Former Member: Barbara Sigler, Trombone

Barbara Sigler, trombone Barbara Sigler was born and raised in California. She earned her Bachelor's in Social Work with a Minor in Music at Sacramento State, then completed her Masters in Social Work at San José State University. Barbara worked for Santa Clara County Social Services Agency as a Social Worker providing protective services to children, and then worked in the Public Health Department, California Children Services, as a Medical Social Worker. She is now retired from her day job and happy just being a musician.

Barb has performed with many theater groups, both in the pit orchestra and as an onstage musician,playing both tenor and bass trombone for TheatreWorks, Foothill Music Theatre, Palo Alto Players, and San José Civic Light Opera, San José Children's Theater, Broadway By the Bay, Hartnell College, San Francisco State University, San José State University, Saratoga Drama Group, West Valley Light Opera, Sunnyvale Players,and Hillbarn Theatre. She played with the Fremont Theatrical Association and traveled to Japan for shows there. She has also played with several big bands: Johnny Lampson Orchestra, Adrian Davis Orchestra, and Bob Saul Orchestra during their existence, and currently plays bass trombone with Swing Solution.

Barb also plays bass trombone with Fremont Symphony and the California Pops Orchestra. She was the bass trombone player for The Women's Philharmonic, playing at Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and did several recordings at Lucas Studios at Skywalker Ranch with the group. Barb is a long time member of the Bay Bones. She is also a freelance musician and has performed with Santa Cruz Symphony, Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra, South Valley Symphony, Santa Clara University Orchestra, San José State University Orchestra, Lyric Opera, Hayward Municipal Band, San Leandro Municipal Band, Half Moon Bay Marching Brigade, San José Municipal Band, San José Wind Ensemble, Millenium Sounds Big Band, and many churches. She is a long time member of the Musicians Union (Local 6).

Barb played with the Menlo Brass Quintet from 1991 to 2018.
