Randall Chase, Trombone
Randall Chase was born in Covina, California, and grew up in neighboring West Covina. He studied trombone in high school with Gerald Wheeler and studied trombone performance at San Jose State University with Bob Szabo.
Randall has played in numerous theater productions including San Jose Children’s Musical Theater, West Valley Light Opera, South Bay Musical Theater, Hillbarn Theater, and others. He has performed with The Ohlone Wind Orchestra, Mission Peak Brass Band, San Jose Wind Ensemble, San Jose Symphony, Mission Chamber Orchestra, Forté Brass Quintet, and Redwood Symphony. He currently performs with the San Francisco Wind Symphony. Randall has also played bass trombone with A Touch of Brass Big Band on their "Doin’ It Right" CD.
Randall is currently a Cryogenics Plant Operator at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory for the Linac Coherent Light Source II project. An employee there since 2003, he has served many roles, initially as a mechanical technician and hydrogen furnace braze technician.
Randall resides in San Jose with his wife and two children, both of whom are musicians themselves. He loves to make great music.
Randall joined the Menlo Brass Quintet in September of 2018.
